Open Logbook

Overview of OpenLogbook

Concept

An important aspect of the OpenLogbook concept is to ensure that as much data as possible is stored during an experiment. This minimizes the risk of losing important data. In every experiment the basic idea is the same; gather all possible data and later on, using OpenLogbook to review the experiment, find out if there are parts that can or should be left out. This approach is new because everyone is used to cutting the information as small as possible. Nowadays mass media is so cheap that keeping more information is not a funding question anymore.

OpenLogbook could be though as a product that is used to review data from the blackbox of the airplane. There are lots of different data sources but still all of them can be synchronized and reviewed in the same environment

Also openness is a important part of the OpenLogbook concept. With OpenLogbook you can mark the important parts of your science work and share it with your collegues around the world. They can see actually the same thing as you do and thus be convinced to trust your results.
