Open Logbook

Overview of OpenLogbook

History

At the winter and spring 2002 a bunch of scientists from around the world (Denmark, USA) came up with the original idea of the OpenLogbook. At the summer 2002, four students (two from Finland, one from Denmark and one from USA) got to working on with the concept of the OpenLogbook. At the end of the summer the concept was bit clarified and written in bunch of documents.

During the second half of the year 2002 and the first half of the 2003 group of seven Finnish students started working on with OpenLogbook software as a project in Helsinki University of Technology. The project was a success and the working software was developed and 1.00 beta was released. It was not totally flawless but was enough to show the potential of the concept and has been used as an example in several occasions.

The development work on the software and concept still goes on.
